18U Bronx RBI League Rules

ELIGIBILITY

Any youngster who has not reached their 19th birthday as of January 1, of the current year is eligible to play (subject to further age bracketing).

PHYSICALS

All players need a physical/birth certificate on file. A must for regional selection team eligibility.

ROSTER /ROSTER CHANGES

Each team is allowed 15 players on their roster. Teams may make up to 5 roster changes; however, all changes must be completed by the 3 rd week of competition. Rosters are frozen at 6 p.m. on Monday after the 3rd week of competition.

PLAYOFF ELIGIBILITY

Players must play in 50% of regular season games to be eligible for playoffs.

START DATE/SCHEDULES AND POSTPONMENTS

Anticipated start date: Saturday, 6/22/13. Once the schedule is completed, all teams will have four days to make any approved schedule adjustments through the league commissioner. All schedules are final on the fifth day.

Games will be played at: Crotona Park # 4 Kingsbridge Little League (3340 Bailey Avenue) Bronx Park East

FEES

a) League is $300 (this includes initial $50 forfeit fee) by the date specified in the BRONX RBI League. (Checks payable to: Urban Sports Group)

b) Forfeit: There is an initial forfeit fee of $50.00 per team. It must be posted before the start of the season. If the team forfeits a game they will be required to post a second forfeit fee. The second forfeit fee will be $75. If a team forfeits three times, then they will be removed from the league.

BASES /PITCHING PLATE

Teams must bring bases and pitching plate. UMPIRE /UMPIRE FEES One umpire will be assigned to each game. Umpire fees are $25 per team, per game.

FORFEIT TIME

Forfeit time is 20 minutes after scheduled start time. If DH, 2nd game forfeit time will be 30 min after first game forfeit time has expired.

UNIFORMS

All players must be in uniform and colors. (Jerseys or T-shirts w/ numbers) SCOREBOOK Each team should have their own scorebook.

EH/FLEX

Teams will have the option of using an EH or flex player not both. DH is not allowed. Re-entry for starting players only.

GAME PROFESSIONALISM/COURTESY

IT IS THE EXPECTATION OF THE LEAGUE THAT ALL TEAMS EXERCISE RESPECT FOR ALL INVOLVED WITH THE GAME. TEAMS ARE ENCOURAGED TO SUPPORT THEIR TEAMMATES WITHOUT BEING DISRESPECTFUL TO OPPOSING PLAYERS, MANAGERS, OR UMPIRES. (Ejections can be a consequence and will be administered at the umpire’s discretion)

INELIGIBLE PLAYERS

If a team is found using an ineligible player(s) all games played with that player(s) will be forfeited. Players must be on teams substitution list to be eligible to play. PLAYOFFS 1. 18U League - The 4 teams with the best regular season record will advance to the playoffs. The “1 seed” will play the lowest seed and the “2 seed” will play the second lowest seed. Championship series will be a best of three series.

AWARDS

Individual awards will be presented to the Champions and Runner-ups. MVP and Sportsmanship trophies will be awarded. Pitching distances (43ft) and base distances (60ft).

METAL CLEATS are NOT allowed in the league.

COURTESY RUNNER- A courtesy runner may be used, optional with one or two outs, for the catcher only.

MERCY RULE Any team ahead by 15 or more runs in a game shall be declared the winner of that game provided 4 innings have been played (3.5 if the home team is ahead). Also any team ahead by 12 or more runs after 5 innings.

SOFTBALLS - Both teams must provide one (1) new softball AND (1) fairly used softball (Dudleys - Yellow softball with red stitching, or High School approved softballs (Yellow) for each game.

SIGN IN SHEETS

All players must sign in to verify presence at game.

TEAMS MAY START A GAME WITH 8 PLAYERS (NO LESS).

NO INNING CAN START AFTER 1HR AND 45MIN.

MUST SLIDE RULE

Baserunners may not run over fielders. Offensive players must avoid contact with defensive players at all times. Offensive players must slide feet first into bases. If offensive does not slide and they make contact with defensive player the result will be an automatic out. Offensive players may dive head first at first base only.

EJECTIONS

If a player or coach is ejected they must remove themselves from the dugout and around the field of play. If ejection is a result of a physical altercation or overly egregious language, player or coach will not be allowed to participate in the following scheduled game.
